UNESCO Heritage Tour - 10 Days


Tour Summary


The tour starts in Seoul with a city tour visiting places such as Deoksu Palace, Changdeok Palace, the Blue House, Jogyesa Temple, South Gate Open Market, and Insadong Shopping Street.

The second day of touring Seoul takes us to the Suwon Hwasung Fortress, as well as the Korean Folk Village.

On the third day you'll travel to the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) & the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel. From the Dora Observation Platform you'll have a panoramic view of North Korea.

Following the visit to ZMZ, we travel to the city of Gyeongju.

After breakfast today we tour Gyeongju, visiting attractions such as the Cheomseongdae Astronmical Observatory, Royal Tumuli Park. the National Museum of Gyeongju, Bulguksa Temple, and the amazing Seokguram Grotto Temple. Having completed our tour of Gyeongju, we drive on to Busan.

In Busan, after breakfast, we start our tour, visiting Busan Tower, Jagalchi Fishery Market, Nampodong Shopping Street, the UN Cemetery, Busan Municipal Museum, and Busan's Haeundae Beach.

Next day, we travel to Mount Gayasan National Park, where we visit the Haeinsa Temple with its cultural treasure, the Tripikata Koreana. We then head for the airport to board a flight to Jeju Island.

On Jeju island we enjoy the first day tour exploring Sangumburi, Seongeup Folklore Village, Sepjikoji, Seongsan Sunrise Peak, Manjanggul Cave, and Mysterious Road.

Our second day's tour takes in Mokseokwon Gallery, Samsunghyul Shrine, Dragon Head Rock, and Jeju Hallim Park. With our tour of Jeju Island over, we fly back to Seoul.


Itinerary


Day 1 - Arrival in Seoul (Monday).


On your arrival at Incheon International Airport you'll be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel by either an airport limousine bus or by a mini-bus. The remainder of the day is yours to spend at leisure.

N.B: This tour can also start on Tuesday or Wednesday, with the first 2 Seoul-based tour days added to the end.

Day 2 - Seoul City (Tuesday)


After breakfast, we start a tour of Seoul visiting notable locations including Deoksu Palace (replaced by Gyeongbok Palace & National Folk Museum on Wedneday - Monday), Changdeok Palace, The Blue House, Jogyesa Temple, South Gate Open Market, and Insadong Shopping Street.
Seoul, the capital of Korea, was established by the founder of Joseon Dynasty in 1392, and now has a population of more than 12 million. It is a city of great contrasts which makes it one of the world's most fascinating cities. The modern and the ancient co-exist in harmony for all to appreciate.

Namsan Folk Village Seoul, Korea

Day 3 - Seoul - Suwon Hwasung Fortress - Korean Folk Village - Seoul (Wednesday)


Following breakfast at your hotel, we leave to visit Suwon Hwasung Fortress, after which we drive to the Korean Folk Village south of the capital, where we find around 230 old traditional style houses from the 18th and 19th century,in an environment reflecting the lifestyle of that period. After the visit we return to Seoul.

Visitors will witness charming scenes of local inhabitants with appropriate ancient costumes living and working the way they would have in the past, before the country became more westernised.

DMZ, Korea

Day 4 - DMZ & 3rd Infiltration Tunnel - Gyeongju (Thursday)


After breakfast, drive to the DMZ.

North Korea’s 3rd Infiltration Tunnel is located within the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ), to the northwest of Seoul. The tunnel was discovered in 1978. It is estimated that up to 30,000 armed military forces with field artillery could travel through this tunnel in just one hour!

From the nearby Dora Observation Platform, there are panoramic views over North Korean territory, and sights include the Propaganda Village, People's School, and Gaeseong City, the old capital city of the Goryeo Kingdom. Leaving the DMZ, we continue our tour by travelling to Gyeongju City.

Day 5 - Gyeongju City - Busan City (Friday)


Today, after breakfast, we start our tour of Gyeongju, visiting landmarks, temples, royal tombs, and monuments from the ancient Shilla Kingdom, including the Cheomseongdae Astronmical Observatory, Royal Tumuli Park, the National Museum of Gyeongju, Bulguksa Temple, and the amazing Seokguram Grotto. UNESCO has designated Gyeongju as being one of the world's ten most historic sites. The Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto being the most recent additions in 1995.

Having completed our journey through Gyeongju, we carry on to Busan City.

Busan Haeundae

Day 6 - Busan City (Saturday)


After breakfast today we commence our tour of Busan, visiting Jagalchi Fishery Market, Nampodong Shopping Street, Busan Tower, the UN Cemetery, Busan's Municipal Museum, and Haeundae Beach.

Busan is the main port in Korea, with an ideal natural harbour, and is its second largest city, after Seoul. It is important for fishing as well as other trades.

Haeinsa Temple, Korea

Day 7 - Busan City - Haeinsa Temple - Jeju Island (Sunday)


After breakfast, we travel to Mount Gayasan National Park. Here we visit the Haeinsa Temple, which contains the world-famous Korean cultural treasure known as Tripikata Koreana - over 80,000 wooden printing blocks of Buddhist scriptures which took fifteen years for its scluptors to create. The Tripikata Koreana was made during the period of the Goryeo Kingdom, with the intention of protecting the country from a Mongolian army invasion, with the help of the Buddha’s power. UNESCO has now designated the Tripitaka Koreana as World Heritage.

Moving on, we proceed to the airport to catch a flight to Jeju Island.

Day 8 - Jeju Island (Monday)


Having had Breakfast at our hotel, we commence a full day tour of Jeju Island, visiting Sangumburi, Sepjikoji, Seongsan Sunrise Peak, Seongeup Folklore Village, Manjanggul Cave, and Mysterious Road.

Day 9 - Jeju Island - Seoul (Tuesday)


After breakfast we continue touring Jeju Island. visiting Mokseokwon Gallery, Samsunghyul Shrine, Dragon Head Rock, and Jeju Hallim Park.

With our tour of Jeju Island complete, we transfer to the airport to board our flight to Seoul. Arriving in Seoul, we transfer to our hotel for well-earned rest and relaxation.
